The 2022 NXL Sunshine State Major season opener is over, and when the dust settled, GI Sportz had set a notable mark in the history of paintball. Paintballs are always seen as the most crucial element to any level of success at major events; if the paint is good, everything else just falls into place.
This season, more teams than ever are utilizing GI Sportz paintballs on the NXL fields, and with the addition of the WNXL Professional Women's Paintball League, it was the most XBall divisions ever fielded at a national event. Teams equipped with GI Sportz 5-Star paintballs were able to complete a full sweep of the entire xball field in Kissimmee, Florida, with an impressive six total first place finishes.
In the history of the sport, a sweep of this magnitude has never been done. Last season, GI Sportz teams completed a full sweep during the same season opener event in Florida. However, with the addition of the WNXL this season, this sets a new record of six first place xball finishes for a paint manufacturer.
This feat is made all the more impressive when considering the weather at the event. Paintballs are incredibly sensitive to moisture and temperature, and with an event that saw temperatures range from the low 40s to the mid 80s, with rain, wind, and near 100% humidity, the versatility of the GI paintball offerings shined.
DISCLAIMER: Division 5 was not included in this win count due to less than 10 teams competing in the division at event one. The Division 5 crown was won by HK Army team, the PR All Starz. This is not a sponsored story.
