Marcello Margott, San Diego Dynasty.
If Marcello Margott is one thing, he is consistent. No matter what the layout is, what the situation is, or what team is on the other side of the field, Marcello brings his elite defensive style, game in and game out. His team, San Diego Dynasty, looks to him to hold the Blue Wall defensive guard and to ensure the opposing team's top player is neutralized at all times. This season, his break-shooting was one of the best in the league and he seemingly always made the right decision when it came to slowing down the opposition's attack.
He started his career as one of the leagues premiere young attackers, but after multiple major knee injuries, he began to take on more of a defensive style of play. Over the last 5 season, Marcello has been arguably the best defensive player in the league and is often tasked with playing the hardest spots on the field due to his elite survivability and marker skills. He is able to go toe-to-toe with any player in the league in a gun-fight and his constant willingness to take on the game's best has made him one of the best players in the world.
Signature Moment of the 2021 NXL Season: Just one week before the World Cup was set to kick off, Dynasty saw their top dorito attacker, Dalton Vanderbyl, sustain a season ending injury. This would leave Dynasty short-handed and they called upon Marcello to take over the attack on the Dorito side. He was critical all event long for Dynasty and he was able to do so with his intricate and merciless dissection of every team he encountered on the dorito side. During the finals, Dynasty found themselves down 2-4 with only 8 minutes left. Marcello went head-to-head against Archie Montemayor, Raney Stanczak and Colt Roberts down the dorito side while scoring key eliminations as Dynasty charged back to win World Cup 7-6. He was event co-MVP.
