The CK Hurricanes are entering a new era under owner John Brinkman, and the early moves suggest he has no interest in easing into it. Brinkman has aggressively aligned the organization with Contract Killer and MacDev, signaling both financial backing and a clear brand identity shift. The Hurricanes are no longer operating quietly as a niche franchise, they are positioning themselves as a top tier presence both on and off the field in the sport of NXL paintball.

The headline moves, however, may be cultural rather than competitive. In addition to constructing a state of the art facilty for his team, Brinkman announced a 2026 season-long incentive that will award one player a fully custom Contract Killer Jeep as a grand prize, a rare and tangible commitment to player reward in a sport that often struggles to offer that level of upside. It is a calculated play; attract talent, create buzz, and reshape expectations around what a professional paintball organization can offer. Whether it translates into wins remains to be seen, but the Hurricanes are no longer easy to ignore.
